Travelling Light (2020)

Travelling Light – Day 1 in Gloucester City Centre.

Travelling Light is a new mobile artwork by the digital art group Squidsoup, the artists behind the installation Where There is Light (Gloucester Cathedral Jan 2020).

Inspired by travelling funfairs, circuses and carnivals Travelling Light brings light and sound to the heart of Gloucester, spreading joy during these dark and difficult time. Moving through the streets, thousands of points of lights mounted onto the back of bikes, dance and pulse to the beat of a unique, local soundscape created in collaboration with Gloucester Culture Trust, The Music Works, Multi Story Orchestra and local artists – highlighting the musical and creative talent of the city.

Travelling Light was in the streets of White City, supported by The Venture, Podsmead supported by Gloucester Athletics Club, Wheels for All and the City Centre. Watch and listen from doorways, windows and streets as this travelling spectacle voyages past.

To ensure the safety of all those involved we ask that you do not follow the artworks or gather in crowds on the streets.

Travelling Light is a Squidsoup project commissioned by Gloucester Culture Trust and funded by the Arts Council England, with support from The Venture: White City and Gloucester Athletics Club: Wheels for All.

The Travelling Light soundtrack is created by Dylan Williams of Gloucester Culture Trust in partnership with The Music Works, Multi Story Orchestra and local creatives.
