Lost in Light (exhibition – 2024)
We are very excited to announce our next major exhibition, entitled Lost in Light, now open in Shoreditch, London.
The exhibition space is new – 118 Curtain Road, Shoreditch London (UK) – and still deliberately retains elements of the grungy feel of 90’s Shoreditch . For us, the location has a beautiful circularity to it, as it is no more than a stone’s throw from where Squidsoup started in nearby Hoxton Square then Rivington Street, way back in 1997. Returning to our old stomping ground has brought the memories flooding back…
LOST IN LIGHT showcases five Squidsoup works and include two world premieres. The works on display are Circular Echoes (2022), Infinite (2024 – premiere), Three Volumes (2024 – premiere), Sola (2024 edition) and an updated version of Submergence (2013-16).
Lost in Light presents a mesmerising sensory journey by renowned artistic innovators and technologists Squidsoup. Visitors are enveloped in a symposium of the senses, where dynamic lighting combines with soundscapes to transform the space into a living, breathing artwork.
Squidsoup not only engineer escapist immersion but ask us to contemplate, to think through the vehicle of light and sound. Lost in Light promises an unforgettable trip for the newly curious and the enthusiast alike, offering a unique opportunity to engage with contemporary art in an entirely new dimension.
Squidsoup liberates the digital from the confines of the two-dimensional screen, allowing it to transcend the virtual and enter the realm of the physical. The digital is atomised into a world of glowing shards of light and pulsating fragments of sound.
Lost in Light presents a series of critically acclaimed works. Each work employs a different technique to harness the mediums of light and sound, situating the visitor in a tactile kaleidoscopic world. Curated by Philippa Adams, this exhibition reveals world premieres of site-specific commissions Infinite and Three Volumes, plus a reworking of Sola.
The exhibition is ever evolving, guiding visitors through a series of mercurial experiences which fluctuate from room to room. Each unique space contains a hybridised digital world which promises to beguile, entrance and challenge.
